Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Operational DBA to be responsible for the health and wellness of our federated multi-server, multi-datacenter physical MS-SQL environment. OLTP high-availability experience, a background in SQL development and work with synchronized, distributed SQL architectures are required. The ideal candidate will have a proactive mindset, actively monitoring and optimizing SQL operations to prevent potential issues that could affect website performance. Advanced tuning skills and a deep knowledge of the MS-SQL engine will be necessary for success in this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Proactive 24/7 monitoring and support of highly available SQL environments.
  • Enforce standards and review ongoing SQL code and schema development.
  • Ongoing analysis of SQL performance – identify and resolve inefficiencies by tuning Stored Procedures and Functions, managing Indexing, tweaking core MS-SQL configuration and other optimizations as needed.
  • Coordinate with other teams for capacity and resource planning.
  • Implement global security standards and best practices for SQL operations and database management (ex. GDPR, Encryption, PCI-DSS).
  • Coordinate and perform regular system audits.
  • Identify and implement system improvements based on monitoring data.
  • DevOps mindset with a passion for getting to the root cause of issues.

  • Works well independently.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Willing to be part of a 24/7 on call rotation and Incident Response team.
